A Christmas Update

By Kode | | Latest News, Website

A quick appeal before I get on with the post, with just over a month to go till our servers are due for renewal we have only raised 65% (we are currently about £500 short) of the amount being targeted, so if anyone can donate it will be gratefully received, you can donate here It’s been a hard year personally as we have had a new arrival to the family, and while it is rewarding has meant my focus has shifted away from the site, fortunately ArieS and Akovia stepped up and kept things running as smoothly as possible, I …

Custom Made Doctor Who Lightbox Poster

By Kode | | Tutorials, TV

After seeing some awesome looking DIY lightbox posters over on avsforum I decided to make something similar, the information on avsforum is mostly from people from the US so hopefully this will help some people in the UK on where to source materials. I didn’t go for a full poster size one as that would have required 3 x 5M LED strips and was bigger than I wanted to make it, so instead I based my size around using a single strip and ended up deciding on making my image 1100mm x 230mm. The Doctor Who Image We are both fans …

Movie Review: Django Unchained

By mizaki | | Movies, Reviews

The latest by Tarantino, sorry, the latest mega epic (or “I can’t cut anything any more”). Nearly 3 hours. 3 hours, ffs Quentin! So what it’s all about? Django is a slave freed by a bounty hunter (Dr. Schultz) played by Christoph Waltz who is after three men that Django can identify. After freeing Django and hearing of his sale and his want to find his wife, Schultz invites him to join him bounty hunting for the winter, after which he will help him retrieve his wife. Django’s wife is owned by Calvin Candie (Leonardo DiCaprio) and lives on his vast estate named Candie …

Movie Review: The Man with the Iron Fists

By mizaki | | Movies, Reviews

After seeing the trailer most people are going to know if they’ll enjoy this blacksploitation-cum-Asain martial arts inspired flick or not. Written by Eli Roth (best known for Hostel) and RZA who also directs and stars (?). This is RZA’s directorial and writing début. Coming with a “Presented by Quentin Tarantino” should be no surprise (also a producer) with the style involved. Is the style coming watered down from recent homages (Kill Bill etc.) rather from the source material and missing something for that? That material being kung fu action, Japanese mega gore and aforementioned blacksploitation. The plot revolves/spirals around a …

Thank you Passion-XBMC!

By Kode | | Latest News, Website, XBMC

We have talked to Passion-XBMC members a couple of times about working more closely together, and while those talks are still in early stages their community has been extremely supportive of us. This last month our friends at the french community Passion-XBMC set up a donation drive for us spearheaded by their member mikebzh44, and the end result was truly amazing, they managed to raise the biggest ever single donation of £458.65!  Which has catapulted us to 60% of our target. As many of you know, we are looking to raise £1440 by the beginning of January in order to pay for …

Reflective cdart

By Peerless | | Movies, Music, Tutorials, Website

INTRODUCTION We all love our media collection. It’s easy to forget that not too long ago, we had to get up from our confy chairs and actually change the CD from the disc tray. Nowadays, we can easily convert our albums to our favorite format, and enjoy an organized and aesthetically pleasing media library. We do it primarily for ourselves, but it’s always nice to impress friends, who have absolutely no knowledge of media centers. They’re eyes glow with amazement and you never felt so proud of your media library… until: “Hey! There’s something wrong with the CD!” As he …
