A quick appeal before I get on with the post, with just over a month to go till our servers are due for renewal we have only raised 65% (we are currently about £500 short) of the amount being targeted, so if anyone can donate it will be gratefully received, you can donate here

It’s been a hard year personally as we have had a new arrival to the family, and while it is rewarding has meant my focus has shifted away from the site, fortunately ArieS and Akovia stepped up and kept things running as smoothly as possible, I am very grateful for all their hard work.

Talking of hard work, many thanks to ArieS and schimi2k for their tireless and thankless request fulfillments, people fulfilling requests are what help make the site so special, and to the mods who spend so much time checking the artwork is up to scratch and to all the contributors to the site.

New category

After a lot of requests we finally added poster support to the site, as with all other categories we aim to provide the highest quality artwork possible.

Blog content needed

The blog has been massively overlooked this year, I just haven’t had the time to put into it, so we are looking for someone (or multiple people) who would like the opportunity to get on their soapbox about anything that even loosely relates to the site, it could be about Raspberry Pi developments, XBMC, Plex, RasPlex, tuning guides, Photoshop tutorials, favorite shows, music news, etc.

The blog is important as it gives people some interesting interaction with the site other than just contributing images, getting images, bringing up issues and gives them a reason to visit more often.

In relation to that we need some kind of “Social Community Manager”, basically someone who can help us grow our audience and interact with our fans on our Facebook page and our twitter page as well as outreaching to related projects.

If any of this sounds interesting to you, or you have other ideas please contact me with what you think you could bring to the project.

Some statistics

In the last 10 months we have added 65,000 images to the database, that is an increase of 15,000 over the previous 10 months.

At the time of writing the site is getting the following hits for the last 30 days:

  • API – Over 57 million hits
  • API – Nearly 2.5 million unique visitors
  • Site – 167,738 hits
  • Site – 120,574 unique visitors

Compared to the same time last year:

  • API – Over 16.3 million hits
  • API – 525,602 unique visitors
  • Site – 206,962 hits
  • Site – 160,671 unique visitors

So while the API usage has increased dramatically, usage of the site has actually dropped.

Where do we go from here?

Hopefully the next 12 months will see the site continue to grow and go from strength to strength.
